  • Quick and easy to make

  • Perfect for lunch, dinner, or late night cravings

This is one of those recipes that feels a little fun but still totally comforting.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Best Cheese for Pickle Grilled Cheese

You can keep this classic or mix things up. Cheddar is always a solid choice for a sharp, melty grilled cheese. Havarti, Monterey Jack, or Swiss also work really well.

If you want to get a little wild, try adding crispy bacon, a swipe of spicy mustard, or even a sprinkle of ranch seasoning.

I highly recommend shredding your own cheese. It’s fresher, melts better, and doesn’t have the extra coatings that pre shredded cheese does. We shred all of our cheese and this electric cheese grater is a lifesaver. Totally worth it.

What Kind of Bread Works Best

You want a sturdy bread that can handle all that cheesy, pickley goodness without falling apart. Sourdough, Texas toast, or a rustic artisan loaf are all great options for a pickle grilled cheese sandwich.

How to Make a Dill Pickle Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Cooking tip: Go low and slow with the heat. Let the bread toast gradually so it turns golden brown while the cheese melts all the way through. High heat can burn the outside before the inside is ready, and no one wants that.

Instructions:

  1. Combine all of the ingredients except for the bread and butter into a bowl.

2. Spread a layer of your mixture on your bread. Then top it with another slice of bread.

3. Spread butter on the outside of your sandwich and grill in a skillet on medium heat. You want to cook this low and slow so all the cheesy awesomeness has time to heat through. After the first side is browned to your liking, flip and continue cooking on the other side.

Now your sandwich is ready for you to enjoy!!!
