🚨!!!TIME SAVING ALERT!!🚨
I like to brown 10 lbs of ground beef at once and freeze it in smaller portions for quick meals like this one!
When the garden is hopping or if there is just a deal on bell peppers, we use this chopper and freeze them. Also a great way to put the kids to work! 😂 Then I can grab them out when needed instead of having peppers go bad in the fridge.
Why We Love Coconut Aminos (and Why It’s Better Than Soy Sauce)
If you’ve been swapping ingredients for healthier alternatives, you’ve probably seen coconut aminos pop up in recipes as a replacement for soy sauce. See my other Good Stuff Simple Swaps Here!
Let’s start with what it is: coconut aminos is a dark, salty sauce made from the fermented sap of coconut blossoms and sea salt. It’s naturally soy-free and gluten-free, making it a great choice for people with food sensitivities or those trying to avoid processed ingredients.
Now let’s talk health. Traditional soy sauce contains soy (obviously), which is one of the most common allergens. It’s also usually fermented with wheat, meaning it’s off-limits for gluten-free diets. Many store-bought soy sauces also contain added sugar, preservatives, and a hefty amount of sodium. Coconut aminos, on the other hand, has about 70% less sodium, and no added junk—just simple, real ingredients.
And flavor? Coconut aminos has a slightly sweeter, less sharp taste than soy sauce. It still brings that same umami punch, but in a gentler, more balanced way. It works great in stir-fries, marinades, soups, or slow cooker recipes—like our Crockpot Philly Steak & Cheese.
We like to think of it as the cleaner cousin of soy sauce. You still get that rich, savory depth, without the bloating, gluten, or additives. Win-win. We like this one on Amazon and always keep a bottle in the pantry.

Instructions
- Combine all ingredients except cheese in your crockpot-one dish, LESS MESS is always a win!
- Cook on high for 2/3 hours or low for 4/5 hours. You could sweep your floors, do your laundry…but a nap would be better! ☺️
- Stir in your provolone cheese, and cook until it is melted through out. Show off your cheese pull to your family before serving. 😂
- Enjoy by itself for a keto/low carb option-you could serve with cauliflower rice. If you’re into the carbs a brioche bun with provolone cheese is pure perfection! We have also enjoyed this with basmati rice.
