Homemade Peanut Butter with Honey – Easy Recipe

Let’s talk about peanut butter for a second. We all love it, right? Spread on toast, stirred into oatmeal, or just eaten straight off the spoon (no judgment!).

But have you ever looked at the ingredients in most store-bought jars? If you haven’t, you might want to. There is a culprit lurking in most of them: highly processed industrial oils. Over time, these can contribute to inflammation in your body, which is the last thing you want from your favorite snack.

Why Homemade is on a Whole Other Level

Making your own homemade peanut butter is ridiculously easy and way more delicious. You get to skip the weird oils, added sugars, and preservatives that store brands try to pass off as “peanut butter.”

The Aroma & Taste:

If you’ve been living off store-bought jars, you might not realize how much better it can be. Homemade has a fresher, more authentic flavor. When you blend those peanuts, you’re greeted with a warm, nutty scent that mass-produced jars just can’t match. What you get is pure, roasted peanut bliss.

The Texture Control:

There’s something so satisfying about creating the exact texture you want. Whether you like it silky smooth or with a bit of a bite, you’re in the driver’s seat. We love using our Ninja Blender to get it perfectly creamy!

Ingredients

  • Roasted Salted Peanuts

  • Honey (Optional, but we love the touch of sweetness!)

The Organic Tip

If you can get your hands on organic peanuts, that is definitely the way to go. Conventional peanuts are often sprayed with pesticides and herbicides right before harvest, and those residues can linger even after roasting. Since peanuts are a snack we eat on the regular, choosing organic when you can find them is a great way to lower your toxic load and reduce inflammation. If you see them, stock up!

Peanut Butter FAQs

Is it really okay to eat it straight off the spoon?

In this house? Absolutely. Since it’s just peanuts and honey, it’s a high-protein, clean snack you can feel good about.

What can I use this homemade peanut butter in?

It is incredible in our Easy Black Bean Brownie Batter Dip or used to make Peanut Butter Filled Dates with a Chocolate Drizzle!

Why does my peanut butter look different than the store version?

Commercial brands use emulsifiers to keep the oil from separating. Because yours is pure, it might settle a little-just give it a quick stir and it’s good as new!

Can I make this without a blender?

You really need a high-speed blender or a food processor to break down the peanuts into a liquid state. A regular smoothie blender might struggle, but a Ninja or a food processor handles it like a champ!

Directions

  • Put the roasted peanuts and honey into your blender or food processor. If using a blender, a better blender is going to help to get the job done! We love our Ninja Blender!
  • Blend or process until smooth. I recommend doing this a few minutes at time and then giving your machine a break so it doesn’t overheat. It will take a couple of rounds until it is smooth or to your desired consistency.
  • You can store this is a glass container or a mason jar with a lid. These are the lids we have, they get a ton of use! Can be stored at room temperature, but we like to keep it in the fridge so it doesn’t need stirred again if the oils separate. One of our favorite things to do is spread peanut butter on a piece of sourdough bread, add banana slices and chocolate chips for a quick breakfast or snack!homemadepeanutbutter
