The Good Stuff Simple Swaps – Every Wednesday I share a new Good Stuff Simple Swap, one simple change that helps clean up your everyday eats without overhauling your whole pantry. You can find all the swaps here!
Ketchup doesn’t usually feel like a big deal, but condiments add up fast. We go through an impressive amount of ketchup around here. Sometimes I honestly wonder if they’re drinking it. So this felt like an easy place to make a swap without anyone noticing or complaining.
A lot of traditional ketchups are sweetened with high fructose corn syrup and include extra flavors or colors that aren’t really necessary. Swapping to a ketchup with simpler ingredients is an easy win, especially when it tastes the same and still works for burgers, fries, meatloaf, and everything else we use it for.
The Swap
Instead of:
Traditional ketchup with high fructose corn syrup
Try:
Ketchup made with simpler ingredients and alternative sweeteners or no added sweetener at all
Ketchup Options We Like
Primal Kitchen Unsweetened Ketchup
No added sweeteners and made with simple ingredients
Primal Kitchen “A Tad Sweet” Ketchup
Lightly sweetened with honey
Other solid options we’ve used:
Simply Nature at Aldi
Annie’s
Sir Kensington’s
These options still contain added sugar in some cases, but they skip high fructose corn syrup and artificial dyes and flavors, which feels like a step in the right direction for everyday meals.
This is one of those swaps that doesn’t change how you eat or cook. It just quietly cleans up something you’re already using all the time.
You can find all the past swaps here and don’t forget to check back next Wednesday for the next Good Stuff Simple Swap!
